Artist’s Statement:
My work celebrates the Human Form as my way of honoring the sacredness of the body in all of its aspects, in particular as it relates to the physical, emotional, and spiritual worlds.

About the artist and her art:
Celebration of the Human Form documents the developmental
trajectory of Corinne Varón’ s artistic journey, starting in the 1970’s
and ending with her most recent works produced in early 2010.
Remarkably, the spontaneous fluidity of the human body that she
began exploring through paint, photo and sculpture as a recent
émigré from Peru in the 1970’s remain fully and boldly present in her
current works.
In her diverse body of work, Varón’s perspective remains focused on
honoring humanity in all its aspects, from the physical, to the spiritual
and emotional. In taking a tour of her work, viewers can come upon
an expectant mother’s quiet moment of prayer or bear witness to the
frenzy of a passionate embrace between lovers. The diversity in the
manner with which she uses lines, space, color and forms, reminds the
viewer of the multidimensionality of life and divulges Varón’s revelry of
the human condition.
“In my recent works, I depict motion through the overlap of form
and color, through a series of “stills” based on insight into my
personal experiences. From ambiguous figures, and/or parts of the
figures, a multitude of images emerge, engaging the viewer on a
journey of pleasant color and form. I have depicted the body in
various contexts, in experiences that were significant in my life” says
Varón, “My paintings depict global events, relationships, and the
world around us as I internalize them.
Praise for Varón’s work:
“The power of Varon’s artwork is in its holistic gestalt. The whole is more
powerful than the sum of its parts. My neurons are activated and
neuropathways charged as I unveil within its larger form, smaller figures,
movement, passion, fire, love, there is so much there. What each person sees
is what each person’s heart and mind knows and can feel based on personal
memory and collective consciousness. Keep looking though and new sights,
new feelings, new perceptions, mind, and heart will occur. This artwork will
leave an imprint; will brand something new on to the perceiver’s soul. Varon’s
artwork is brilliant, passionate and powerful. Bravo!”

“I have been collecting Varon’s work for 25 years and I contemplate it daily
from the walls of my living room, bedroom and my office. Her pieces speak to
me by connecting deeply with that part of me that is curious, imaginative,
color-loving and thoughtful. Her work has a deep cultural connection with her
native Peru while also capturing the universalisms of pain, sorrow, joy and
love. I am inspired by the energy in her work and I personally am transformed
by how it evokes my own need for self-refection on a variety of themes and
liberates my soul to soar. What else can one ask of art?”
